In the fifth chapter of A History of American Higher Education, Thelin (2019) referred to the 1890s to the early 1920s as the outset of the “Golden Age of College.” In his writing, Cohen (1998) argued that the common changes regarding student demographics, faculty role, curriculum, and governance across the higher education landscape justified this era being labeled the “University Transformation Era.” There were several key topics of interest addressed throughout the chapters and supplemental readings, including but not limited to:
